Google Reader

is live. Awesome job, Wetherell, Shellen, and a few other geniuses who don't like the lime light (or if you do like the lime light, let me know!).

This is another example of Google shipping 20% projects that I keep telling interview candiates about (after scaring them with questions about PSPACE-completeness and balancing AVL trees). I feel fortunate that I was able to see this in the early stages and contribute some feedback (and some code for the original demo long ago. norm.py, I promised you fame, didn't I?).

But dudes, your BlogThis integration needs some work. I will have to send some patches.

If I'm looking at this changelist right...that BlogThis code was added at *gulp* 7pm the night before launch.

Oh my. I believe the word capricious applies. Sorry 'bout that. Are you really gonna help with a patch? *doe-eyed look* Pretty please?

Also, I've got a story that I'm gonna post later today or tomorrow morning in which you are a whole chapter.

Cavaet: Each chapter is only about 200 words. I haven't had a lot of time lately.

I mean it'd be nice to let the people know that you were the sole backend engineer for Reader at its inception.

Also...thanks dude.

Man, you are getting all emo on me. Anyway, a patch has been sent. How the bug is exercised is weird so there's some more testing I want to do.

Surely you jest about asking interviewees about PSPACE completeness? That's just...wrong. ;)

Unfortunately, I'm serious. But I'm not trying to find random trivia to get rid of people, I'm trying to find out what people are good at and what they know.
