Bush's Hot Chocolate.

The first hit for "hot chocolate recipe" is the White House recipe and it is quite a cup. More like a molten chocolate bar than the powered stuff we all drank growing up. I "drank" a third of a mug and had to put it away.

But I placed a popsicle stick in it and expect to eat it as a snack in the morning.

I don't know if this is a recommendation. It's worth trying. Maybe cut it with some more milk.

Jeffrey Steingarten once said that the White House recipe was a watery travesty, not fit for the "hot chocolate" name. Then again, his recipe (from Pierre Hermé) has a whole bar of chocolate in it.

It wasn't watery, but we made adjustments to the recipe. We couldn't find cocoa at the store (!) and I wouldn't let Steve use my can of Scharffen Berger cocoa, so we ended up using unsweeted chocolate and added sugar. Plus, we used heavy cream instead of light. (What's light cream? Half-and-half?)

It was awesome. We had no idea how to store it, so we left it in the pot and put it in the fridge.
