Senuti - unlock your iPod.

Do you want to be able to share your iPod music to your desktop? Senuti might be a solution. I have a Mac at work and one at home and want to be able to keep them in sync. A regular mp3 player/usb hard disk works but using an iPod to do this was needlessly difficult. This is pretty much the only reason I don't own an iPod.

  • I've had an iPod for a while and keeping my music in sync between my work computer and my laptop at home has been frustrating. Yesterday I found the "smart sync" feature of "iPodRip". It's not the greatest interface and it seems slow but it does exactly what I want which is two way sync the songs in iTunes to the songs on on my iPod.

  • Hi, I'm really ticked off I have not found a answer on this page. But my iPod is locked too.

    The other day I was messing with the combination because I was board (So Me!) and I accendntly selected lock screen and now i'm stuck. my powerbook (primary computer) had to be reinstalled is like a new machine to my iPod. I don't wan't to restore because I will loose all my holiday photos and music. Pleeeeeeeeeeese help me!

  • unlock your ipod (ipod nano and video)

    go to mapoptions
    choose the tab "view"
    choose "show hidden files and folders"
    click ok

    connect the ipod to your computer
    go to the folder "ipod_control" on the ipod and choose the folder "device"
    change the filename of te file "_locked" to "_unlocked" (the _ must be includit)
    open the file with the notepad and delete the line with tekst
    save the file in the same folder and call it "_unlocked"
    disconnect your ipod from the computer and you are now in the normal menu`s and

    all the files and music are saved

  • If you're using win xp home edition go to start - control panel - appearance and themes - folder options - click the view tab - under hidden files and folders - click the circle at the side of show hidden files and folder - then click apply - connect your ipod go to my computer - open ipod disk drive - ipod control - device - open the document "_locked" with a note pad and there you will see your pin good luck and I Love You "Olive joy C.     1/ plug it in ur comp, dis didnt work for my nano

    2/ try to remember the code :D /didnt work for me again

    3/ go to

    NUMBER 2 , 3 AND 4(solutions) i hadn't tried, but found it after i unlocked my ipod, number 4 is the solution i did and it worked... hopely one of these works for u

    5/ go to
    -start-->control panel---> apperance and themes-->folder options--->clicke the view tab--> under hidden files and folder --> click the circle at the sdide of show hidden files and folder --->click apply

    -connect the ipod to your computer-->go to your computer -->double click on ur ipod-->go to folder "ipod_control"-->then delete the the folder that says "_locked" and hopely it works..

    Step one: Have hidden files viewable.

    Step Two: Plug in the iPod, and open its folder. Go to iPod_Control. CUT all the folders and paste them into a new Folder on your Desktop. Unplug the iPod.

    Step Three: Select a language on the iPod. Plug it back into the computer. Cancel and close iTunes. Copy the all the folders _BUT_ the "device" folder back into "iPod_Control." Eject your iPod.

    IT IS NOW UNLOCKED WITH NO LOCK CODE!! And, be more careful next time.

  • This is the way to do it.
    This method will:
    1. Unlock ipod nano.
    2. Allow u a new 4 digit code.

    Here goes:
    1. Open "My Computer"
    2. In Menubar, Go to tools>options
    3. Choose the tab "view"
    4. Choose "show hidden files and folders"
    5. Click ok

    Now -
    1. Connect the ipod to your computer. It will show up as a "removable drive" in My Computer. Open this new removable drive.
    2. Go to the folder "ipod_control" on the ipod and choose the folder "device"
    3. Change the filename of the file "_locked" to "_unlocked" (the _ must be included)
    4. Open the file with the notepad and delete the line with text, add a new 4 digit code . This will be the new screenlock code.
    5. Save the file in the same folder.
    Disconnect your ipod from the computer.
    6. Keep the centre button and the top menubutton on the ipod pressed till the ipod resets. Now all the functions are back to normal,no music has been deleted, and the new code added above is the new screenlock code.

    And that's it.

  • Oh yes, sometimes ipod will not show up as a removable drive. U need to enable disk use in ipod. For that, these are the instructions:

    1. Connect your ipod
    2. Open iTunes (version 7 and above). On your left you have devices, and below that the connected ipod device. Click it.
    3. In the iPod screen which comes, click the box "enable disk use".
    4. Click on Apply.
    5. Now the earlier instructions can be used.

    Note
    In earlier versions of iTunes, the same option appeared in a different location. For those using earlier versions, after connecting the ipod, open iTunes, go to Edit> Preferences>iPod tab>Music tab. Near the bottom of the option screen, check the box labeled "Enable disk use".

  • Check this out okay to everyone that has lost their password on their ipod fear not. First go into itunes and enable your ipod for disk use. Then go into "my computer" and click on your ipod. Next go to tools then folder options under tools. Then to view under folder options. Under hidden folders make sure that view hidden folders is on. Then click apply go to ipod control. Then click device. Then right click over the "locked" or "unlocked" file. Click open then it will ask you what program you wish to use with it. Click notepad and the numbers that come up are your password for your ipod. I hoped this helped!!!!!!!!

    Hi my name is Josh and i also have locked my ipod, i found your lil forum while looking how to unlock my i pod nano, the i pod nano or any ipod will normally say that u can just attach your i pod to the i tunes on your pc. this is true however it takes more of your participation than that to unlock it.
    This is how you unlock your i pod, and get music off your i pod. However it will not delet or change the i pod code, that is something i am researching but it will disable the code so that u can listen to your i pod unless u set the code to on again. ok so here it is step by step and i hope u will email me back letting me know if this helped you out.
    U can post this up if u want aswell. Oh yes please make shure that once you attach your i pod to your computer that in i tunes you have the check box's Enable Disk Use and Manually mange music checked, on your ipod menu for itunes program, or u will not see your i pod in your my computer folder.

    Step One: Go to your Control panel on your computer or laptop.
    Step Two: Put view to classic view for this will give you faster access to the folder you will be looking for, the classic view option should be on your top left for vista and Windows XP Users.
    Step Three: If you do not have Classic view just try and look for the folder (Folder Options). As soon as you find this folder, open it. A window should pop up with the header saying (Folder Options).
    Step Four: In Folder Options go to the tab marked (View) In the folder options window, and you should see a list. At the top of the list it should say in something along the lines of (Files and Folders), if you scroll down the list you should see a section called Hidden Files and Folders. In that section you should probably see some box or bubble with the words saying, "Do not show hidden files and folders" and either on top of that or below it should be another box or bubble saying, " Show hidden files and folders". Make shure that the Box or bubble with the words saying, " Show the hidden files and folders" is checked or circaled in and not the other one.
    After you make shure it is checked click on the ok at the bottom of the window to enshure the settings stay on. Once you click on ok at the bottom of the window the window should close. Now you should be able to see hidden folders or files on your computer. What ever you do, Do Not UNCHECK the box saying, "HIde protected operating system files"
    For this may cause serious damage to your computer, if you start to delet content, but if you know what you are doing than it is ok to uncheck the box but is not nesecary for taking off the code locker for i pod.
    I just wanted to let you know that just incase if you didnt know.
    Step Five: If you have Windows XP you will need to go to My Computer, if you Have Vista you need to go to the folder labeled Computer. You can find this folder on either XP or Vista in the Start menu or desktop.
    Once you are in this folder look for your I pod folder. if you have givin a name to your i pod you should be able to see it by its name, if not it should be on the e drive or the usb drive that you have it connected to.
    Open this folder.
    Step Six: Once you have located the I pod folder on your computer, open it and look for the folder (i pod_Control). Open this folder, ( the folder is kinda greyish so dont be afraid of it. its just that it was a hidden folder and now that u put your computer to be able to see hidden folders that is what it looks like.)
    Step seven: Once you have located the folder I pod control and opened it you should see another folder labeled Device, open this folder, and not the file labeled device but open the folder called device. Also from here if u want you will find a folder labeled Music in this folder you will see a whole bunch of other folders, in thies folders is your music, wich is on your ipod, so if you wanted to take off your music from your i pod and share them with some one just look in thies folders and simply drag and drop the songs you want. the folders in the music folder should just have titles of one letter and two numbers, dont be afraid and look its ok.
    Step Eight: now back on to fixing your nano from the i pod control folder, so now you should be able to see some file that says along the lines, "code, Lock, or _locked" Delet this file, and now you should be able to use your i pod once again. All u have to do is close all the windows and eject your i pod from i tunes and it will work. If you get locked again just repeat the steps five threw step eight. thier is no need to go and redoo the check box as explained in steps one threw step five becuase you should have the right to see whats on your computer, but if you want to put the check back then just check the other check box instead of showing the files.

  • ok so i my girlfriend got an ipod touch and she screen locked her ipod.
    but she forgot the password. and she tried so many times to figure out what the combination is that it says that you cant use your ipod anymore. kinda like you tried to many times.
    when she plugs in her ipod touch to the computer it says that it cannot connect because it has to be unlocked on the ipod itself first. but the problem is... is that she just got a new computer and the other one is like fried so all the information is lost. is there any way possible to fix this!?!!?

  • "GO to start.control panel.appearance and themes then open folder options. click on the tab view. go down to hidden files and folders then chose show hidden files and folders... now . go to my computer
    doble click on your ipod. now go to a folder called ipod_control then open the folder device then just delete the thing that says _locked"

    -You will only see the appearance and themes category if you have your controll panel on Category View, If you have your controll panel on Classic view, like me!, you have to open the file named Folder Options (It's just a picture of a folder with a checkmark in it) Go to view (don't scroll down) You should see it at the bottom of the page under Hidden Files and Folder, just switch it to show hidden files and folders and then just follow on with the quoted directions!!!

    And please.... if you have a problem with your iPod DON'T write down that you have a problem unless your problem is not fixed by any of these ehh... directions

  • the post "unlock your ipod (ipod nano and video)" works and you will not lose any files, however, i thought you only need to delete the "_locked" file.
