Just think of the billions of dollars the telephony industry could have saved if it had listened to the usability research [on why WAP was a big nightmare -steve], rather than trying to fight me. -Jakob Nielsen [I rip all my best links off of Anil's sidebar]

The Department of Justice has started subpoenaing journalists under the USA-PATRIOT act, something which used to be illegal and unfathomable. This news comes via The Register because if those subpeonaed were to have announced this former constitutional violation, they'd be thrown in jail. Awesome!! [via faisal]
Andre Garzia, an independant blogging tools developer from Brazil recently had a bad accident and lost his development machines. He could use your help. Last year, I started trying to donate a little money each month to open source and freeware software developers. This time I gave a little more than usual.
I'm looking for a new email address. One with an ISP who's California based and will sue under the new anti-spam laws. Any suggestions?

Chuck Palahniuk recently gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly and asked that certain parts be left out. Apparently the writer decided that it was too juicy to not publish so Chuck has outed himself on his website rather than face further public embarassment. It sounds like there's a lot of back story waiting to surface.

Hi Everybody. I'm back from Hawaii. As time permits, I'll finish uploading all my photos. Stacy, who possesses a real digital camera, took some much better pictures. In general, the Sprint to Blogger moblogging worked pretty well but laziness caught the better of me.

So, when I said big, I just meant it was lasting a long time. The earthquake was still going on when I hung up the phone. I *heart* California livin'.

Chuck Palahniuk is coming to town for a book signing on Saturday in the Haight. I think that's as good excuse as any to get together for dinner.

I think you want to buy Stacy's Lombard.
And if not, maybe you want to set up your own open source phone-to-blog system with PhoneBlogger.
